Welcome to Farmersville Elementary School
Beliefs
We believe that all children at Farmersville School can learn the content, skills, and processes which will enable them to be successful in subsequent years of schooling and in life.
We believe that it is essential for children to be engaged in motivating, life-connected activities that are aligned with important learner goals.
We believe that a school culture that promotes trust, cooperation, and respect, recognizes the hard work of students and staff, encourages the positive involvement of parents, provides for professional self-renewal, and is built on the belief that "as good as we are, in what ways can we get better?" This optimizes the chances for all children to learn at a high level. They can learn the content, skills, and processes which will enable them to be successful in subsequent years of schooling and in life. We accept that we do not control all the factors that affect the teaching/learning process. However, we do realize that we have a strong influence on many of these factors.

This is an in-school program for At-Risk elementary age students. The Home/School Advisor works to improve the communication process between students, the school and parents. This service provides an important link in the communication process for children who have specifically identified needs. The Home/School Advisor assists in teaching all children conflict resolution skills.
The Media Center encourages students to explore books and other resource material. Through the use of our computerized circulation system, students and faculty can access materials from all of the media centers in the school district.
All students participate weekly in general music activities. These activities promote student participation and listening skills, while enhancing appreciation for music
The MSD of Mt. Vernon employs six school nurses allowing for each school building to have a full-time nurse.
Physical education classes in grades K-5 are taught by physical education teachers.
School offices are normally open from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
The philosophy of Posey County Special Services is based on the premise that all students can learn and that it is the right of all of our students: to receive a free and appropriate public education that is designed to meet their individual needs; to obtain their education in an environment that is safe, caring, positive, and challenging; and to expect dignity, courtesy, trust, and respect.
Currently each classroom has 4-5 networked computers. Each classroom and the media center has an internet connection. Students visit the Computer Lab three times a week. They have their own personal computer in the lab so they can save and retrieve their work on the hard drive before printing.
The lab not only offers a wide range of courseware and software but also a variety of multimedia equipment, including scanning, digital camera, video making and editing.
